Flu Vaccine - 2016

The flu vaccination is the single most effective way of preventing the spread of the flu in the community. The flu vaccine is now available for free under the National Immunisation Program for those who have the greatest risk of becoming severely ill from the virus.

People with impaired immunity are eligible for a free vaccine under this program and are strongly encourage to receive one. As many forms of inflammatory arthritis result in impaired immunity, we urge anyone with such a condition, or those who believe they maybe at increased risk of the flu, speak to their doctor about getting this year’s vaccination.

Being vaccinated in Autumn is best, as it will allow time for the vaccine to work before the start of the flu season and allow for protection throughout the winter months.
