Speaker |Dr Helen Benham, Clinical Rheumatologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and translational researcher on rheumatic diseases.

Dr Helen Benham divides her time between clinical practice as a rheumatologist at Princess Alexandria Hospital and translational research into rheumatic diseases. The focus of her continuing research is the study of pre-clinical Rheumatoid Arthritis, to understand the relationships between genetics and environment in the development of RA, evaluate and explore hypotheses regarding disease initiation, develop predictive models of disease, evaluate pre-clinical interventions and novel immunomodulation including antigen-specific therapy. Additionally, she has a strong interest in implementation science and the translation of research findings into practice, particularly in the field of rheumatology. Helen is the current Vice-President of Arthritis Queensland.

Speaker | Dr Philip Robinson, Clinical Rheumatologist, Senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and Supervisor for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians

Philip is a clinical rheumatologist at Brisbane Rheumatology and staff specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, as well as Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Philip trained in general medicine and rheumatology in New Zealand and then completed a PhD and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Queensland. His current research interests are in gout, spondyloarthritis, fibromyalgia and the disease associations of serum rate. Dr Robinson runs the gout clinic at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and is actively involved in training as a supervisor for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
